Modelling the transmission of COVID-19 in the UK and globally
Our founder, Jillur Quddus, worked in collaboration with nationally-leading epidemiologists, statisticians, artificial intelligence researchers and computer scientists during the formative months of the Joint Biosecurity Centre (part of the Department of Health & Social Care) in order to rapidly model the transmission of COVID-19 in the UK and globally.
Jillur led a team that applied statistical modelling and graph theory techniques using the latest cloud-based analytical technologies and open source frameworks to simulate and evaluate the impact of non-pharmaceutical interventions, including lockdown measures, on helping to prevent the transmission of COVID-19. The insights generated were directly consumed by leading epidemiologists at Public Health England, and were included in reports consumed by members of the UK's Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE).
