Modelling the transmission of COVID-19 in the UK and globally
Our founder, Jillur Quddus, worked in collaboration with internationally-leading epidemiologists, statisticians, artificial intelligence researchers, computer scientists and healthcare professionals during the formative months of the Joint Biosecurity Centre (part of the Department of Health & Social Care) in order to rapidly model the transmission of COVID-19 in the UK and globally.
Jillur led a team that applied statistical modelling and graph theory techniques using the latest open source frameworks deployed to high-performance computing platforms to simulate and evaluate the impact of non-pharmaceutical interventions, such as lockdown measures, with the goal of minimising the transmission of COVID-19. The data products and subsequent insights generated were directly consumed by leading epidemiologists at the UK Health Security Agency (formerly Public Health England), and were included in analytical reports consumed by members of the UK's Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE).
